Shit Horrible Hotel - A Fuckin Nightmare! Please Help!

Hi guys.. I got a HUGE problem. I spent the night in this shit horrible, stupid hotel in Italy. There's a church in front that rings it's bell so loudly every half hour that it messes up my sleep. I h...

  • Since you booked third party technically it is booking.com that took your money directly and not the hotel. You have to call booking.com to settle this dispute
  • >Then when I arrived in my room as I was settling in, my medication spilled on the floor and the hotel assistant who was there with me didn't even bulge a muscle to help me. Bit of advice. Dont say this, it makes you look very bad. I wouldn't ever touch anything that has to be swallowed, injected into someone else's body. I would complain if someone did touch my medication. I would coach any staff that did. You dropped it, you pick it up. You don't know where other peoples hands have been. Hint loo, without washing hands.
  • You're coming across somewhat entitled. The church bell is nothing to do with the hotel, they literally have no control over it. Another user has given you very good feedback on the meds situation, so I won't repeat it. It doesn't seem unreasonable to wait a few minutes for the WiFi details whilst the member of staff finishes their break, they are people with needs too. Get some sleep and you'll likely feel a little better. When you wake up leave some feedback on Google or booking.com to warn others about the inconvenience of the church bells.
  • That's definitely uncomfortable. It's a part of European culture. Since you booked through a third party, you'd have to complain to them to see if anything can be rectified. I'm sure some cost will be involved IF they even do anything. That's always the case nowadays. Or you can cause a scene at the hotel in frustration and see if they will pity you and, at the minimum, comp you some days. Good luck. The things you learn with travel.
  • Look at the terms of your reservation, or talk to the front desk that you want to check out early and if they will give you a refund of the difference . If they say yes make sure you get a final receipt before you check out.  Every hotels policies are different, we have no idea about your shit hotel

How do you feel about partial basement guest room?

We have a small indie brand hotel in the city central. A quarter of the building is partial basement space (half of the wall is underground, while half is above ground, with window on the upper half)....

  • If I were on a short trip, and partial basement rooms were less expensive, I would choose that in a minute So many resorts have premium rooms, and charge differently for views, pool proximity, higher floors, etc, I figure it has to be possible to differentiate on online booking
  • Why can't you highlight it on the OTA? Lots of hotels have different categories of room to choose from? Having one labelled "basement room" with lots of photos is perfectly doable. Not sure I understand the barrier you describe?
  • I know a hotel in AMS like this. They sell the rooms on HotWire, so I assume they aren't popular enough at their price point.
  • I stayed in a place like that. It was their king hot tub suites. I guess if you wanted a getaway where the room mattered, like a couples thing that might work. Check aloha beach in Wisconsin dells for photos.

Let's discuss Fire Alarms

While fire alarms, and especially actual fire emergencies are very rare in hotels, they do happen. A hotel is a commercial building that is full of wiring and equipment that can cause smoke or flame a...

  • I’m a security director for a hotel. We use the Station Night Club fire video for training.
  • In my experience, most people just refuse to leave the building and would rather die than be inconvenienced. I'm not risking my life to argue with stubborn idiots who don't evacuate when the alarm goes off, I'm going to follow normal procedure and evacuate myself.
