Shuffle problem

Is it just me or shuffle is not that random? How does it work? Or why it works that way.. I want it to be 100% random and that's the reason I'm pressing that button

  • i’m having the same problem!!! what is going on? can someone explain?! why haven’t they fixed this problem? it’s been happening to me for months now.
  • I saw on tiktok that if you go to Settings- Playback and turn off Automix, it will be more shuffled. I did it and seems to be more random when I play my playlist.
  • [someone shared this](https://shufflemyshit.com) hope it works for you
  • I'm appending my similar question: I found out that `Spotify` plays in `shuffle mode` not randomly but plays the most popular songs more often. This is not what I need. I often like more the unpopular songs. Is there a way to instruct `Spotify` to don't repeat particular song until all other songs in particular playlist were played? If I don't like particular song I will delete it from playlist. The issue is that every song will pall on in certain time of intensive listening. So I have a playlist with 1700 songs +/- and I'd like to feel it fresh, so I don't have a problem when I hear a song weekly or even less frequently. For me long-term randomness is crucial.
  • There is no random shuffle ANYWHERE! Not on any service, not on any device. Just accept that. Here are 2 excellent fixes: 1. Make a HUGE playlist - 1k+ songs - with tons of different artists (don't just throw entire albums in it). Now it will mostly FEEL random when you use shuffle. OR 2. Play your liked songs or playlist in order (there are multiple "orders" to choose from). Back in the days of the I-Pod (that's right no random shuffle!), I just played my entire library in alphabetical order. It took 2 years in my car to get through them all. And with ZERO repeats!

How you guys do your Playlists?

I started a few days ago with my Playlist and added around 500 Songs until now and the Playlist is like 25 hours long and Not nearly finished yet. So my problem is I'm worried that some songs will get...

  • For my purposes, most playlists are limited to maybe 50 songs. I make a lot of playlists, and I use a lot of folders and subfolders. (This is really helpful when I'm in the car.) Here's my current top-level folder structure: * Album Playlists * Artist Playlists * Archived Playlists (less-often used) * Borrowed Playlists (lists created by other people) * Conceptual Playlists (for playlists that have a unifying theme) * Genre Playlists * Holiday Playlists * Local Playlists (for playlists consisting entirely of local files) Within each of these folders, there might be additional subfolders along with all the assorted playlsits. I do occasionally make gigantic playlists like the one you have created. I use these as working tools but I rarely try to play them, and instead just use them to create smaller and more specific playlists.
  • I have my liked songs which is everything and then I do themed or mood playlists
  • I have dozens of different kinds. Here’s my profile if you’re curious. I usually try to have an explanation below them. Many are random but there’s lots of variety. https://open.spotify.com/user/1216909579?si=NPwV4zcRSua_GbslNojP0g
