Airbnb refuses to accept evidence of fraud by host [USA]

We stayed in Indiana for the Eras Tour. Our host, after we left, is committing fraud and falsifying text messages. We have never messaged her off app and don't even know her number. We have told Airbn...

  • Their standard is normally "if it was off app, it's not our busness/problem" Keep reminding them of that.
  • This happened to us when we stayed in Hawaii. The stay wasnt perfect but I still gave a four star. The superhost didnt like that so they made fake texts saying I extorted them for positive review to remove my review. I dont ever communicate off the app and from my understanding Airbnb doesnt take texts as evidence, but for some reason they did and removed my review. Airbnb does nothing to help and just closed my case even after I explained the situation. Airbnb doesnt care, their support team is garbage. Funny thing is eventurally they banned the host from the Airbnb platform, but who knows at what point Airbnb realize what the host was doing. I know the host continued to do this because I would periodically check his recent reviews and when there was a bad review I would see them dissapear in two weeks. I did screenshot the missing reviews and was going to ask Airbnb about them but at the end of it I just didnt think it was worth my time to battle with them. Whats wild was this superhost had 17 listings and 200+ five star reviews when I booked with them. After this experience, it definitely tainted my confidence with trusting Airbnb stay reviews. I have choosen not to use Airbnb again, and rather just pay a bit more for hotels who are often more reliable and not risk the chance of ruining my trip
  • What exactly is she messaging for/about and why is it fraud? Not much to go on here for any helpful responses.

Airbnb left us stranded without a place to stay after roach infestation [japan]

I wanted to share my recent experience with Airbnb because I’m at my wit’s end and could use some advice or support. I booked an Airbnb in Japan for a trip that runs through November 26. Shortly ...

  • Between Guests and Hosts, Airbnb gets a 15% com on every reservation. They pocket it systematically, helping neither party... The only advice I can give you is to contact Airbnb on all Social Media you can think of. They are a bit more reactive there because they do not want problems to fester in view of everyone. Also 1 out of 5 reps is worthy so keep calling until you get one more able than the others. Last, be very careful when picking a place, especially when travelling abroad. Pick a "Superhost" and a "Guest Favorite". Read the bad reviews and look for recurring issues. If it is a one off, it could be a guest making stuff up. I hope your visit gets better from here on out.
  • I for the life of me will never understand why anyone takes a chance on random AirBnb hosts in a foreign country
  • Roaches are quite common in Japan due to the warm and humid weather and most households have therefore sprays like that at home. Not sure what kind of accommodation you booked but particularly if it is a house it’s not unusual.

Do I do anything about a luxury stay that shorted out the electricity on half the luxury? [USA]

It was clear that this was a property being shoved into becoming a money maker by a group of investors and distanced robotic guest services. We weren’t the first to stay in this relatively new mount...

  • You say you're sure Airbnb won't do anything, but have you contacted them? Maybe try to see if they can get in contact with the host? It would have been best to contact Airbnb the very first night when things weren't working. And you left early but still didn't contact Airbnb?
  • You should be able to get 20-30% off for that blend of problems. FWIW, it's irrelevant that other places cost $150. ABB won't really care about that. What's relevant is that it wasn't fit for habitation (power) and major amenities was broken (hot tub/dryer).
  • Sounds like one phase was down. When you lose one phase you have partial power. The electrical provider would have to make the repairs. We had this happen two years ago, a transformer was failing and 5 homes only had partial power. The issue should have been reported to both Airbnb and the hosts as soon as it was noticed.
