Reddit Posts - Walmart

We have this one manager whose job it is apparently to complain about a pallet blocking something or not enough space in a part of receiving in between the 10 minute breaks she takes hourly kissing the store managers ass. What really annoys me about her is...

Even if there is nothing to complain about you can see her wheels turning trying to invent some problem when there are none. She's like that guy in Office Soace who literally does nothing. My favori...

Broken equipment rant post

I work Front End at a Super Center. Seems like everything is literally falling apart at this store! There are 51 registers up front, not counting electronics, sporting goods, health and beauty. Roughl...

  • Almost all of these things can be fixed, if only someone would put in service tickets. What sucks is that your store manager would rather have their bonus, than invest in the repairs needed to keep your equipment working.
  • Do you even have an AP coach? If you do, it sounds like they should be fired.
  • The person who I think might be the AP coach, seems to spend time hiding in soft goods spying on front end, even using her phone to take photos/videos, and talking down to coworkers. The reason it is not clear to me that she might be a coach is because there is a big lack of communication, I have only been employed there for 5 months, and I am just there to get paid. The person that hired me is on leave after having a bad accident. However, this type of crap is really beginning to bother me!

Xmas time off

Recently just transferred to a Walmart because I moved five hours from home in August. I let my team lead know about this situation and that I would like to go home for the holidays. She sort of cut m...

  • First mistake was trusting a lead's word on getting time off for the holidays. Second mistake, this is what you save up ppto and points for. I make it a point to take a week off every year with my wife for Christmas. Those fuckers will do anything and everything to force you to work the holidays, so you gotta scam em right back.
  • Another area where they could really benefit from training people on is who is who and what they're responsible for. As someone else said, coaches or people leads make changes to schedules, not team leads. You should have talked to your coach about this early on, but odds are nobody ever told you that. They still might have said they can't accommodate you, but at least you would have known. Unless they're specifically giving others time off and not you, you don't really have much of a complaint. And even then, it's reasonable to expect that time off would go to those who requested it first. And in my store, seniority also plays a role when multiple people in an area want time off and when it comes to schedules. I'm not dealing with the Black Friday crush because I'm staying on my usual 1-10 shift that day. This is PRIME TIME at Walmart. My supercenter is getting 2 trucks a day on the GM side some days. There's just a lot of work to be done from now through the holidays, so getting time off is tougher. My team had someone go out due to a non-workplace injury and she's already been replaced because this is a busy time in sporting goods with hunting season in full swing now. When she comes back from her leave, she'll have to go to another area. As far as open door or ethics, you can certainly talk to your coach and see what might happen, but you don't really have an actual open door or ethics claim because no one did anything improper.
  • They are right. The time you're wanting off is the busiest of the year. You were more likely to get *some* of it off had it been requested 6 months ago.
  • I wouldn’t take it personal your coach isn’t satan she’s just doing her job that’s just the way Walmart operates they don’t really play around with Black Friday/christmas. You might have to take the L and put in your two weeks or just get pointed out and then you’ll be able to return after 6 months it’s not like hr or your team lead or coaches are going to hold a grudge against a teenager going home for the holidays from a different city/state.
  • she said you “might”. Its not likely that you’ll get it based on her response. I would go to your coach and then store manager if you don’t get the response you want. Going forward start submitting time off requests for this sort of thing and do it early.
